Daphne Nansamba

Daphne Robins Nansamba is a Senior Associate at our firm. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from Makerere University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Law Development Centre, Kampala. 

Previously, Daphne worked as a Legal Research Assistant and Mediator, at the High Court of Uganda and Court of Appeal of Uganda where she developed vast knowledge and skills in drafting legal opinions, mediation, initiation of plea bargaining in the Criminal Division of the High Court of Uganda and writing draft judgments.

In notable matters, together with the team from Pepperdine University, California, while working under Justice Edmund Lugayizi (as he then was), they initiated plea bargaining in the Judiciary. 

Daphne contributed to the push for a law to protect Ugandan children from being trafficked by foreigners on legal guardianship orders issued by the Uganda Courts by undertaking extensive research prior to the decisions in Re: Joyce Deborah Alitubeera and In Re: Richard Masaba

She subsequently moved on to Lugayizi & Co. Advocates as a Senior Associate where she exclusively handled all firm litigations. Daphne has participated in mediation of large disputes involving for instance, China Railway No. 3 and Shiv Construction Limited; companies involved in road construction in Uganda.

Daphne has a passion for and has developed a wealth of experience in handling mediations, estate administration, drafting legal opinions, and handling matters pertaining to all domestic relations and land transactions.

Daphne is a member of the Uganda Law Society and the East Africa Law Society.
